The Brain-Body RESET for Thyroid Disease

Thyroid disease is characterized by chronic fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, muscle soreness and cold hands/feet and can go undiagnosed for years due to poor testing.

Thyroid disease will impact 1 in 8 women in America and many men as well. It is a hidden cause of fatigue, weight gain, brain fog, depression, anxiety and pain. It often goes undiagnosed for years due to insufficient testing. The patients that are diagnosed and put on thyroid hormone replacement often continue to suffer with the same symptoms, also due to insufficient testing.

So what gives? How do you properly identify if your symptoms are due to the thyroid? It all starts with proper testing. Many times the only tests ran to assess the thyroid are TSH and T4. When looking at the thyroid I always recommend running TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3, Reverse T3, T3 uptake and TPO/TGB anti-bodies.

Running this combination of markers lets us know if you have full blown thyroid disease, if you have a problem converting T4 into the active form of thyroid hormone T3. It will tell us if Estrogen levels are too high and blocking the ability of your thyroid hormones to work. And most importantly it will tell us if you have Hashimotos which is by far the most common cause of thyroid disease in America. Hashimotos is an autoimmune disease that effects the thyroid and is actually a problem with the immune system. The first step in discovering how to optimize thyroid health is to get the proper testing done. More to come on how we work to help patients that suffer with thyroid symptoms.
